Beginning to create or edit a WordPress website? Create simple, intuitive pages by understanding how to use blocks.

A block is the foundational unit of content in the WordPress Editor. You can add blocks for text, images, video, audio, columns, tables,  buttons, galleries, and more.

As a front-end developer who frequently builds WordPress sites, I’ve created several short video tutorials to walk you through the basics. These step-by-step guides will help you customize your site using the WordPress editor, without requiring any coding knowledge. In Part 1, I show you how to create a page on a WordPress site, preview your page, schedule a publish date, and more—all while getting comfy with the editor options and settings in the block editor workspace.

In this five-minute video, you’ll learn how to add blocks, save time by using patterns, get comfortable using different types of blocks, and edit the position, form, and stylings of blocks.

Ready? Let’s go.

What’s next?

Before many of us were technologists, designers, and business leaders, we spent much of our time working on causes that mattered to us. At Kalamuna, we still do that, but we do it in a way that puts our skills in the service of mission-driven organizations. Much of the reason we work with our clients is that we want to help like-minded people. Consider this blog series a primer for how we can better help you and help further your mission.

Look out for Part 3 of this series, where I overview Kalamuna's custom block style variations. You’ll learn how to leverage these theme-specific features to customize and personalize your blocks with ease.

What makes Kristina a cornerstone member of our team? It could be her years working with nonprofits and charitable foundations, though it could also be her experience as both a UI/UX designer and a developer. She was already creating websites in her free time when she was 8 years old. As a WordPress Front-end Developer, Kristina ( with her cat, Chichi, at her side) will always find a new way to look at challenges and bring her development expertise to any project.
